Time and time again we speak to people who say they have tried everything but still cannot find a programme of exercise that they can sustain. We usually find there is something fairly obvious they are doing wrong - most commonly the wrong type of exercise and the wrong amount of exercise. Normally with a few minor adjustments they begin to feel more energetic and see a leaner, toned body take shape.
Our 60 minute Fitness consultation is for everyone that have participated in exercise classes, walked or ran miles and miles, tried diets... but have still not managed to find a regular programme of exercise that suits them.
If you are nodding in agreement, you need an expert to tell you why it has not worked in the past, and how you can make it work in the future. During this hour you will be given a fitness analysis by one of our Trainers and then be advised on the most intelligent and effective way forward by using our tried and tested techniques.
Our 60 minute Fitness Consultation takes a precise and analytical look at you as an individual, and will tell you what will work for you. A verbal conclusion will be given to you on the day, followed up by a written recommendation. The following areas form the most important part of our consultation. If you feel that a particular area of your lifestyle needs examining, please let us know in advance.

Our Fitness Consultation includes:
This will examine closely how you “move”. We see how you deal with normal everyday movements, which includes standing, walking, running, and balancing. Advice will include how to move more fluidly, more safely and without injury.
When your heart beats, it pumps blood round your body to give it the energy and oxygen it needs. As the blood moves, it pushes against the sides of the blood vessels and the “strength” of this pushing is your blood pressure. If your blood pressure is too high, it puts extra strain on your arteries (and your heart) and may lead to health risks. We will take your blood pressure, explain what your readings mean and advise what steps to take if it needs lowering.
This is the number of heartbeats per unit of time, typically expressed as beats per minute (BPM), and it can vary as the body's need for oxygen changes, such as during exercise or sleep. We shall measure your heart rate to tell us how efficiently your body is functioning and what levels of exercise can be programmed. Regular monitoring during subsequent exercise is often recommended.
Your body composition is the amount of fat versus lean muscle tissue that you have. This is commonly expressed as a percentage of your total weight. Body weight alone is not a clear indicator of good health, because it does not distinguish how many pounds are from fat and how many are from lean body mass. The goal is to get your body fat percentage to a normal range and to build your lean tissue which then burns calories naturally.
We look at diet - often simple changes can make enormous differences. Do not worry, we will not ask you to do anything radical but will give you some common sense guidelines. The pleasures of eating and drinking are things to look forward to – not something we ask you to sacrifice.
We will provide you with a sensible and practical guideline of exercise that will improve your levels of fitness. This will take into account your specific lifestyle and health and which can fit into your normal routine and be sustained.
You are asked to run or walk for 12 minutes to test your cardio. The result will give a good indication of your basic fitness level.
